The other lesson is, don't trust Seagate. If you don't have PS Plus, use a USB stick and occasionally back up your saves. The lessen here: If you are a PS Plus subscriber, use automatic cloud storage uploading for saving (I always did it manually because I was afraid of running out of space - originally Sony gave you only 1GB of cloud space but it has since been increased to 10GB there is no reason not to do it automatically now). Seagate has 5 years of warranty, so I will be getting a free replacement, but my non-backed up data (such as videos created during the past 1 1/2 years) is gone.
Thankfully I have some backups, but unfortunately not everything. I put the drive in a USB enclosure to test it, and it won't even spin up again.
Upon restarting the console, I got error CE-32335-8, which means that the system storage can't be accessed. Last night it suddenly stopped working while I was using my PS4 Pro, without any prior warning. Look at all the 1-star feedback mentioning PS4.
